  • 8-Plait (or 8-strand) Rope
  • 8-Plait Splice- tapered and ends burned in place
  • 8-Plait with G4 galvanized chain
  • 3-strand Rope with splice
  • 3-Strand Splice with taper and ends burnt in place
  • Each splice is secured with whipping twine beneath the first link. A space is left to allow for the chain to move.
  • G4 galvanized chain
  • G4 stainless steel chain available in all sizes
  • Not pictured- 3/8" chain, which is larger than 5/16" chain
  • Chain too small for gypsy, doesn't fit in pockets well.
  • Chain correct size for gypsy- each link sits perfectly in each pocket.
  • Not sure what size chain you need? Look for a number inside your chainwheel.
  • Add on painted depth markers
  • Add on vinyl flags- sewn in place every 30' and windlass safe

How long does a custom anchor rode take to make?

If the materials are in stock (see below), your order will typically be created within 2-3 business days. We then ship it using UPS ground from Clearwater, FL. If your rode includes a special order item (see below), it could take up to a few weeks to create. Galvanized or Stainless? A few points to consider:

Stainless chain offers an aesthetics benefit for those who prefer the continuous shine of stainless on the bow of their boat.

Stainless chain avoids the issues concerning galvanizing and wear. It also stows nicely, because unlike galvanized chain it does not 'cone' in the chain locker (simply because the links are smoother).

Our galvanized chain is high-test G4 short link. It is hot-dipped and with proper care, will provide years of use.

If you have ANY questions at all about what size rode you need for your chainwheel, please ask prior to ordering! Custom anchor rodes CANNOT be returned for any reason except unusual wear & tear or defects. Please check sizing prior to ordering.
 
**All rodes must be soaked prior to use, otherwise snags and slippage can occur. Ensure that you have the proper size and then soak from 2 to 24 hours before loading into your windlass.**
 
Our current production time for a custom anchor rode is 2-3 business days if we have the materials in stock, or up to 3 weeks if we are waiting on inventory. 
 
We use UPS ground for our free shipping and can take up to 5 business days once your items ships. If you need your rode expedited, please call us to arrange for a different option.

    Ordering was easy from the web store, with plenary of options to choose from. Free shipping was a plus. Happy with the turnaround and delivery time (less than 2 weeks). Chain is of good HD quality and rode is great 8 plat type. Very happy and telling my nautical friends about Dark Horse Marine.

    I have not used it yet, however the customer service was super, the dilivery was fast, 4 days and the price was by far the cheapest. I wish all my boating purchases were this good.

    Just received and have soaking. Company was wonderful to work with, VERY knowledgeable, tremendous assistance offered on the front end so we should have 0 issues on the water. Rode came boxed and bagged so pre-soaking was a piece of cake. The bitter end was separated and labeled to assist with install.

    Very impressed with this product. I knew as soon as I pulled it out of the box it was first grade material. It was packed amazing and came out of the package freely & without kinks! I purchased the same type of Rode from a competitor and I was extremely disappointed. It had over 9 kinks out of the box and you can tell they heat melted it in several spots because it was already frayed from the distributor. I sent it back right a way. This is a great product at an extremely fair price!
